Hats In Fashion Once Again

Some say there are two kinds of women, those who wear hats and those that wish they could wear hats.  I’ve also heard it said that if you can’t find a hat that makes you look fabulous, then you haven’t tried on enough hats.  I personally love hats, although I’d have to admit to having more baseball caps than fascinators.

The popularity of women’s hats has been on the rise,  perhaps because folks can’t seem to get enough of everything Kate Middleton.  At her wedding, many of the guests were seen wearing fascinators, these small mini hat like accessories, some that seem to defy gravity on how they stay attached.   I don’t really see the fascination with fascinators, but then again, I’m more mountain girl than city girl so I can’t be expected to understand.

I do think hats are cool.  They can be so much more than a great way to cover up a bad hair day, or a way to keep the sun out of your eyes.  Hats are undoubtedly a fashion statement.  While my hat collection does tend more towards sports, I do have a couple of fancy hats that can be worn on special occasions.

I don’t know why the popularity of hats has waned since the 30’s and 40’s when hats were very much the in thing.  Is it because we as a nation have dressed down, opting for jeans and cowboy hats rather than dresses and fashionable hats?  I say let’s bring back the stylish hat, and start dressing up more often!

Let’s bring back the Easter bonnet and all start adorning our heads with flowers and feathers.   Let’s make a fashion statement with hats!

As winter approaches, let’s make a pact to only wear stylish hats to keep our heads warm.  No more itchy, stinky wool hats, let’s commit to fashion over function.  I happen to love fur, so this winter I’m on the lookout for the best looking, most fashion forward hat with fur that I can find.  It’s going to be my present to myself, I can hardly wait for the weather to turn cold so I can wear it!

So thanks Princess Kate for steering us in the direction of hats once again.  You’ve rejuvenated the hat craze and women all around the world are thanking you for it.  I’m thanking you for it.  Afterall, I have this website that is dedicated to hats.
